Position Overview:
The Fleet In-charge (Air Hub) is responsible for ensuring timely availability, optimal utilization, and cost-effective management of vehicles for air hub operations. The role oversees fleet procurement, maintenance, regulatory compliance, and driver management. It plays a vital part in supporting efficient hub logistics and service delivery.
Job Purpose:
To manage end-to-end fleet operations at the Air Hub, ensuring timely vehicle availability, optimal utilization, and adherence to compliance and safety standards. The role supports smooth logistics flow by coordinating fleet procurement, maintenance, and driver performance.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Operational Responsibilities
· Ensure timely availability of vehicles for all inbound, outbound, and transit runs within the Air Hub.
· Manage daily fleet allocation to ensure optimum utilization for pickup and delivery operations.
· Coordinate with vendors and conduct market hiring of vehicles when required, while minimizing costs through effective planning.
· Monitor fleet performance and route planning to ensure operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
· Maintain records of fleet movement, availability, and utilization to support operational decisions.
Fleet Maintenance & Compliance
· Oversee scheduled maintenance and repairs for both company-owned and contracted vehicles to ensure operational readiness.
· Ensure all vehicles meet regulatory and statutory compliance requirements, including permits, licenses, and fitness certificates.
· Conduct regular audits to verify fleet documentation, safety standards, and adherence to company branding guidelines.
Vendor and Stakeholder Coordination
· Assist the Regional Fleet Manager in vendor evaluation, rate negotiations, and onboarding processes.
· Liaise with internal departments (Operations, Security, Compliance) to coordinate vehicle requirements and safety checks.
· Ensure timely escalation and resolution of issues related to vehicle availability, driver conduct, or breakdowns.
Driver & Personnel Management
· Allocate drivers to network and feeder runs and ensure their briefing before shifts.
· Monitor driver performance, behaviour, and compliance with operational protocols and safety norms.
· Organize regular safety and performance trainings for all drivers in alignment with company guidelines.
Administrative and Strategic Support
· Analyse operational trends and future volume projections to assess fleet requirement and plan accordingly.
· Support fleet budgeting, cost optimization efforts, and strategic initiatives led by the Head – Air Hub or Regional Fleet Team.
· Maintain MIS and documentation for fleet utilization, costs, vendor payments, and audit records.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
· Essential: Graduate in any discipline.
· Preferred: A postgraduate diploma or certification in Logistics/ Supply Chain Management
Experience:
· Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in fleet operations, logistics, or transportation management.
· Experience in managing large-scale fleet requirements in a hub or warehouse environment.
· Prior exposure to vendor management, cost control, vehicle maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
· Experience in leading a team of drivers and coordinating with cross-functional departments is preferred.
