Serve as a member of the Vehicle #Engineering Team to support Closures System development for the #Tesla vehicle product lines. __ Closures commodities consists of CIW (structural panel development of doors, hood and liftgates), Mechanisms/Electro mechanisms, Dynamic Sealing and Glazing Conceptualize, design, engineer, release, and launch closures components. __ Develop and execute closure system requirements for one or more of the aforementioned closure commodities __ Achieve innovation-driven closure system targets for appearance, function, quality, cost and weight. Establish closure system architecture and functional feasibility __ Support manufacturing processes and material selections to achieve world class execution of automotive exterior craftsmanship and fit and finish using an analytical and physical assessment __ Manage and collaborate with key suppliers (both internal and external) to support overall vehicle development milestones and prototype/ production build events and initiate regional changes for closures products. __ Evaluate competing design approaches using any one of the various development tools (DFMEA, fault tree, decision matrices, etc.) __ Act as technical #consultant to support Global Supply Managers on making strategic sourcing decisions and driving suppliers to deliver high quality products on tight timelines
