People who’ll bring new perspectives, solve tough problems, and thrive as part of a team. If that’s you and this role fits, we want to hear from you.Join the power movement as Cost Accounting ManagerThe Cost Accounting Manager will be responsible for developing and leading management accounting initiatives for the company, with a focus on ensuring the costs of materials, magnet manufacturing sub-assemblies, and subsystems that make up SPARC, our fusion energy machine, are accounted for timely and accurately in our ERP.\nWhat you'll do:Develop and implement robust cost accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accurate cost allocation, tracking, and reportingManage the inventory costing process, including the documentation and update of costing methods for materials, labor, and overheadsCoordinate with the FP&A and engineering teams to ensure the accuracy of Bills of Materials, capitalized inventory, and R&D expenseCoordinate with the logistics team to oversee the annual physical inventory count and inventory cycle counts; including assisting with root cause/corrective actionsPerform variance analysis of actual costs against expected costs in cooperation with financial analysts, investigating and explaining significant discrepanciesLead audit preparation and preparation of deliverables, as it relates to inventory, work-in-process, construction-in-process, and certain fixed assetsDrive special projects to elevate the cost accounting function, such as ERP process enhancements and internal controlsLead and develop a team of 1-2 accountantsPrimary reviewer of account reconciliations and journal entries with accountability for related internal controls.Prepare and analyze all grant accounting revenue and expenses driven on a reimbursement basis, ensuring all documentation is audit-readyDrive improvements to processes and proceduresWhat we’re looking for:Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting or similar field preferredMinimum of 7 years experience in Accounting, including a minimum of 5 years in supervisory roleExperience with ERP SystemsProven experience as a cost accountant, cost analyst, or similar role, with a focus on data analysis and strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and practicesExperience using a large ERP systemBonus points for: Experience in an organization funded by government grants or contractsMust-have Requirements: Perform extended activities such as stooping, climbing, typing, standing, sitting, etc.Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionallyWork in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics\n$150,000 - $225,000 a yearSalary range for this full-time position + equity + benefits. The actual salary will depend on level, location, qualifications, and experience.
