The Ophthalmic Technician Specialist works up patients for physicians that includes taking medical history, performing initial examination and completing diagnostic testing. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) certification at least at the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) level. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: CPR Must obtain Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Technologist (COMT) within 18 months of hire. Experience REQUIRED: Two (2) years of experience performing initial ophthalmic examinations and diagnostic testing. Experience PREFERRED: Four (4) years of experience in academic medical environment preferred. Education/training REQUIRED:   High School Diploma / GED Education/training PREFERRED: Bachelor's Degree in Health Science or related field. Independent action(s) required: Takes medical history, performs initial examination and diagnostic testing independently. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A Additional position requirements: Must be willing to work at all office locations.
