Title and Summary Manager, Government Affairs and Policy, US Overview Mastercard’s Government Affairs & Policy (GAP) team works to shape the policy environment in ways that protect our business, unlock growth, and promote innovation. We engage with policymakers, trade associations, and third-party voices to advocate for smart legislation, advance our brand, and support the company’s business objectives. We are seeking a Manager, U.S. Government Affairs to manage our employee PAC and lead our political compliance in the US. In addition, they will support our advocacy efforts and broader political operations. This is a dynamic role that blends policy, communications, stakeholder engagement, and project management. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, politically curious, and comfortable working across teams to help shape Mastercard’s voice in the United States. The Role Manage the company’s employee Political Action Committee (PAC), including compliance reporting, executive communications, event coordination, and stakeholder outreach. Develop and execute PAC engagement strategies to enhance employee participation, deliver value to contributing employees, and grow receipts and membership. Coordinate and execute high-impact events, including political fundraisers, thought leadership forums, and policymaker engagements across the U.S. Enhance political disclosure reporting through streamlined data-tracking methodologies, ensuring timely corporate disclosures, and accurate responses to benchmarks such as the CPA-Zicklin index. Create and execute political compliance training programs and best practices with legal teams and external counsel to ensure regulatory adherence and effective stakeholder engagement. Manage logistics for political events and meetings, including pre-event scheduling and vendor management to post-event follow-up. Support the development and execution of advocacy campaigns and political engagement strategies. Conduct policy research and develop briefing materials that distill complex issues into clear, actionable summaries for policy messaging, political briefings, and internal updates to senior leaders. Track legislation, committee activity, and key developments relevant to Mastercard’s policy priorities. Drive strategic initiatives forward by developing project plans and managing internal timelines, workstreams, and tracking systems to ensure on-time execution and follow-through. Maintain internal databases and systems for tracking legislative activity, stakeholder engagement, and policy development relevant to Mastercard’s priority issues. Support the U.S. Government Affairs team in building and maintaining strong relationships with congressional offices, internal stakeholders, industry associations, and third-party partners. All About You Experience managing PAC operations including strategy development, compliance reporting, political giving, or campaign finance is preferred. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage logistics in fast-paced environments. Event planning and project management experience, with a track record of managing complex logistics high-profile gatherings. Strong writing and communication skills, with a clear and persuasive style. Politically astute and intellectually curious, with a working knowledge of the U.S. federal government and legislative process. Self-starter who is organized, dependable, and able to juggle multiple priorities with composure, follow-through, and accountability. Comfortable navigating cross-functional teams and engaging with senior stakeholders. Flexible and resourceful problem solver who can quickly adapt to evolving priorities or unexpected challenges, be proactive, and maintain a can-do attitude. In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more.
