      JOB DESCRIPTION: Abbott in Ireland Abbott has been operating in Ireland since 1946 and serves the Irish market with a diverse range of healthcare products including diagnostics, diabetes care, medical devices and nutritional products. In Ireland, Abbott currently employs about 6,000 people across ten sites located in Dublin, Donegal, Clonmel, Cootehill, Galway, Kilkenny, Longford and Sligo. Please note any offer of employment for this position is   conditional upon the successful completion   of a pre-employment medical examination, including drug and alcohol screening, conducted by a medical practitioner designated by the Company Position Overview The HR Director, Ireland serves as the senior HR leader for Abbott’s operations in Ireland, setting the vision for Abbott as an employer of choice and providing strategic direction for HR. This role partners with business leaders and global HR teams to align people strategies with business objectives, drive organizational effectiveness, and ensure compliance with Irish labor laws. The Director will lead talent strategies, foster a high-performance culture, and enable workforce agility through data-driven insights and technology. This position plays a critical role in shaping the employee experience, influencing senior leadership decisions, and building HR capability to support Abbott’s long-term growth. Main Purpose of Role Set the HR vision for Ireland, positioning Abbott as an employer of choice and aligning people strategies with business objectives, local dynamics and global priorities. Partner with business and HR leaders to design and implement talent and organizational programs that ensure the right capabilities for delivering financial commitments, foster a culture of high performance and engagement, and build a sustainable talent bench for long-term growth. Partner with Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development leaders to ensure strategies for recruitment, succession planning, and leadership development are aligned with business needs and effectively operationalized. Drive organizational design, cultural transformation, and change management initiatives, applying best practices to ensure adoption and sustainability. Ensure compliance with Irish employment law, manage complex ER and union matters, and mitigate risk across all HR activities. Leverage HR technology and analytics to enable data-driven decision-making, enhance employee experience, and communicate insights through clear visualization and storytelling. Build and develop HR capability, fostering collaboration across HR communities and providing coaching to HR staff and business leaders to deliver integrated, high-quality services. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience in multinational environments. Deep knowledge of Irish employment law, ER practices, and union negotiations. Proven ability to influence senior executives and lead complex organizational change.
