Your role will involve maintaining and enhancing existing software systems and integrated monitoring solutions, leveraging your technical and domain expertise in marine automation. You will also contribute to the development of future software projects within the marine engineering domain. What you will be doing: Design and Development : Conceptualize and develop solutions for complex marine automation systems; propose and contribute to new product development through technological innovation. Software Delivery : Deliver software products based on high-level specifications, aligned with project plans and milestones; validate and test software prior to release to ensure system integrity and reliability. Documentation and Support: Provide ongoing support for current software and produce comprehensive specification documents and user manuals. Team Leadership: Build and manage a software team to drive development efforts. Collaboration: Work closely with the RRS UK R&D team to build and support future software solutions. Qualifications: At least 10+ years of experience in software development including the following: Numerate Degree or equivalent with relevant years of experience. Experience in LINUX Embedded Development is a must. Experience in C++ Windows development using Visual Studio, Windows application development, Visual Studio VC++. Experience in QT Framework, TCP/UDP Networking, Data encryption techniques, Direct X/Open GL, Google protocol buffers. Experience in serial interfaces (RS232/485/422) protocols such as ModBus, NMEA & CanBus. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others on team projects and deliverables. Preferred Requirement: Experience in Integrated platform management systems, VME platform development, marine automation software systems., is an advantage.
