About the role: Lead Strategic Client Relationships in UIT – Join MUFG as a Director in Sydney. MUFG Bank, Ltd is a leading provider of institutional banking services to top-tier clients in Australia’s Utilities, Infrastructure, and Transport (UIT) sectors, including listed and unlisted corporates, sponsors, and project-level assets. We are seeking a Director, Relationship Manager to lead client coverage in these sectors. Based in Sydney, this role will focus on building and deepening strategic relationships, driving portfolio growth, and delivering innovative financial solutions across lending and non-lending products. The successful candidate will act as a sector expert, collaborate with product partners, and provide leadership within the team to ensure sustainable business performance and client success. What you’ll be doing: As an experienced Director within Global Corporate & Investment Banking Oceania (GCIB Oceania), your key responsibilities will be to: Develop and maintain strategic client relationships, enhancing existing accounts and onboarding new clients in UIT sectors. Create and execute client account plans to drive portfolio performance, revenue growth, and return targets. Identify new business opportunities and expand the UIT portfolio through targeted strategies. Develop and implement a robust industry plan to support sustainable growth and profitability. Act as a subject matter expert and key industry participant for UIT within GCIB Oceania. Collaborate with product specialists to deliver tailored financial solutions, with a focus on non-lending products. Lead portfolio management and transaction execution, ensuring alignment with credit and risk requirements. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members to foster a high-performing team. Support the Head of Corporate Coverage in managing broader coverage strategy and driving business objectives. What we are looking for 15+ years of experience in UIT sectors within Institutional Banking or Corporate Finance, with a focus on client relationship management and transaction origination. Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, or related fields from a leading university. Proven ability to execute complex transactions and collaborate with product partners across project finance, acquisition finance, and capital markets. Demonstrated success in onboarding strategic clients and strengthening existing relationships. Strong credit and risk management expertise. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build consensus. Effective stakeholder management and collaboration skills. Strong business acumen with the ability to identify new revenue streams and cross-selling opportunities. Previous leadership experience in guiding and developing high-performing teams.
