This role oversees end‑to‑end training program design, delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement for all manufacturing functions. The Training Manager serves as the site’s learning expert—applying adult learning principles, driving digital and AI‑enabled training solutions, managing the training management system (TMS/LMS), and ensuring regulatory compliance. This role will partner closely with manufacturing, quality, engineering, EHS, and HR to cultivate a learning culture and develop a highly skilled workforce. Job Description Training Strategy & Leadership Develop and execute the site’s multi‑year training strategy aligned with operational goals, quality standards, and workforce development needs. Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of training programs across all production roles, including onboarding, upskilling, cross‑training, and certification. Manage and develop training staff, trainers, and SMEs to ensure high‑quality instructional delivery and consistency. Own workforce capability mapping and the site‑wide skills matrix, ensuring role clarity, current-state capability visibility, and future-state requirements by value stream, shift, and line. Lead strategic workforce development planning to support labor pipeline, cross‑training coverage, and succession planning in partnership with Operations and HR. Build and sustain a culture of continuous learning and professional development at all levels, reinforcing coaching, feedback, and standardized work. Set clear targets to reduce onboarding and time‑to‑competency while improving first‑time quality rates, driving measurable productivity, quality, and safety outcomes. Curriculum Design & Adult Learning Build robust curriculum frameworks using adult learning theory, competency‑based training, and blended learning methodologies. Conduct needs analyses, skills assessments, and job‑task analyses to determine training priorities and create role‑based learning paths. Oversee development of standard work instructions, job aids, digital modules, learning labs, and hands‑on practice stations. Design, implement, and govern certification and recertification programs aligned to risk, complexity, and regulatory/quality requirements. Training Technology & AI Integration Oversee administration and optimization of the site Learning Management System (LMS) or Training Management System (TMS), including reporting, compliance tracking, and user experience. Leverage AI tools for content creation, skills assessment, and adaptive learning experiences to enhance engagement and reduce training time. Establish digital content standards, including video‑based training, microlearning, and AR/VR (where applicable). Build analytics dashboards and training performance metrics to inform decisions and continuous improvement. Training Centre & Hands‑On Learning Lead the design, operation, and continuous improvement of a hands‑on training center, ensuring safe, realistic, and repeatable learning environments using scrap materials, simulations, and mock‑ups. Partner with SMEs to capture and transform real work scenarios into structured digital and in‑person learning modules. Operational Collaboration & Compliance Partner with operations, engineering, quality, and EHS to align training programs with regulatory, quality, and safety requirements. Ensure compliance with industry standards, internal audit readiness, and external regulatory expectations. Provide change management leadership and training readiness support for new equipment, process, and product introductions (e.g., NPI/transfer/ECN), including SOP/work instruction updates, pilot runs, and go‑live stabilization plans. Measurement & Continuous Improvement Establish KPIs and dashboards to measure training effectiveness, time‑to‑competency, certification rates, and post‑training performance. Use data and feedback to continuously improve curricula, delivery methods, trainers, and training technologies. Establish standard work to reduce onboarding time while improving first‑time quality, and maintain the skills matrix as a living system integrated with scheduling, staffing, and line readiness. Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in learning & development, training management, manufacturing leadership, or related roles. Minimum 3 years of experience designing and managing training programs in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Deep knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, Bloom’s taxonomy), and competency‑based learning. Demonstrated experience deploying and managing LMS/TMS platforms, including reporting, workflows, and compliance modules. Proven experience creating both in‑person and digital curricula, including eLearning, video training, simulations, and microlearning. Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, quality systems, and safety requirements. Excellent communication, facilitation, and coaching skills with the ability to partner with all levels of the organization. Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence without authority. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; comfortable working on the production floor. High level of comfort with data analytics and training performance metrics, including building and interpreting dashboards to drive decisions. Hands‑on experience owning a skills matrix and workforce capability mapping across roles, lines, and shifts. Proven ability to reduce onboarding/time‑to‑competency while improving first‑time quality rates. Experience developing, administering, and maintaining certification and recertification programs. Demonstrated ability to build and sustain a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Experience supporting change management for new equipment/process introductions, including training readiness and ramp plans. Preferred Qualifications Experience using AI tools for content development, adaptive learning, and skills analysis.
