Role Summary The Advisory practice within the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) advises reforming political leaders and governments on strategy, policy and delivery to achieve significant and positive impact for citizens around the world. We are looking for a Consultant to join a team of advisors based in Guatemala. The successful candidate will play an instrumental role in supporting TBI’s project in the country, including working closely with senior political leaders. This is an exciting opportunity requiring exceptional candidates who have experience working with the public sector, a can-do attitude, appetite to make an impact, versatility, and comfort operating in politically complex environments. The Consultant is expected to contribute to multiple projects. The role will also have a unique opportunity to interact directly with government civil service officials, appointed senior leadership positions within government, and senior elected officials. The team’s work is highly visible within government and any team member will be able to shape the work of TBI in support of the government’s agenda to improve the lives of its people. As a key member of a relatively small team, you will support across a number of projects and collaborate closely with the Country Director. We are looking for someone that is driven by curiosity, able to effectively articulate ideas, has polished presentation development skills, a strong work ethic, and an eagerness to learn. Key Responsibilities The Consultant responsibilities include: Supporting TBI’s role in delivering strategic direction, policy advice and delivery of projects to our government counterparts. Performing in-depth analysis and structured problem solving across various topics, generating original insights and producing high-quality deliverables which are fit for delivery to senior government clients. Engaging with client counterparts for data gathering and establish relationships of trust with counterparts, as a go-to-person for analytical abilities. Producing and owning sections of presentations and reports destined to senior government leadership. Supporting the Country Director and team by contributing to brainstorming sessions, thought leadership, content development, and strategic analysis. Analysing qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends, insights, and key findings. Taking initiative to achieve work outputs and having ownership over key project deliverables. A passion for integrating with local stakeholders, working hand in hand on their daily routines to provide support and find new, improved ways of working to deliver on the senior leader's agenda. Ability to operate with professionalism, confidentiality, integrity and diplomacy.  Qualifications Required:   3-5 years of work experience as either a political staffer, public servant, or in strategy consulting, economics, finance, multilateral institutions, or high impact civil society organisations, or related field Demonstrated success working internationally, with hands-on experience living and operating in diverse cultural and professional environments Strong research experience and analysis of data and policy, with the ability to find and synthesize relevant information sources and write with clarity and impact A high level of comfort working in a fast-paced environment and handling multiple diverse workstreams at once while maintaining the ability to prioritise effectively A proactive, self-motivated individual with a passion for achieving impact Ability to work independently and think strategically Excellent writing, presentation and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English An advanced knowledge of software programs such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and a willingness to learn new tools and applications Preferred: A master’s degree in social sciences, international relations, public policy, economics or related field Experience in delivery or implementation of public policy Experience in strategic communications, public relations, or a related field, with a focus on government or public sector clients A familiarity of politics in Latin America and the broader economic, geopolitical, and security context a plus A knowledge of foreign policy and international relations, including regional and international multilateral organizations Skilled at communicating, from executive office level through to technical level, adept at speaking to senior leadership, knowing how to navigate ambiguous environments and comfortable at managing up and beyond hierarchy Experience using data analysis and visualization tools, such as Power BI, to support policy analysis, monitoring, and decision-making Closing Date: 2026-03-15
