Position Overview The Community and Corporate Relations Officer plays a key role in strengthening the university’s presence by cultivating partnerships with school districts, community organizations, employers, and industry partners. This position promotes TAMUK programs through coordinated outreach efforts, information sessions, and high-impact events that foster collaboration with alumni and external stakeholders. The Relations Officer also expands internship opportunities by building and maintaining employer relationships and serving as a liaison between the university and partnering organizations. Through strategic planning, reporting, and event coordination, the Relations Officer supports community and corporate engagement and the broader mission of TAMUK – while actively enhancing relationships and reinforcing the university’s reputation in the community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Community Partnerships & Outreach Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations and professional associations to strengthen community relationships. Coordinate outreach events, information sessions, and engagement activities to promote university programs and enhance the institution’s presence in the community. Serve as a liaison between the university, community partners, and alumni to foster ongoing collaboration and strengthen long-term relationships. Assist in planning and implementing community-based initiatives, recognition events, and cooperative partnerships. Employer & Industry Partner Engagement Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers and may create new and ongoing internship opportunities for students, enhancing both partner confidence and the university’s reputation for workforce preparedness. Network with employers and industry professionals and may expand internship pipelines and promote the university’s talent pool. Act as a liaison between the university and external organizations, ensuring mutually beneficial partnerships. Communications & Marketing Create, manage, and distribute communication materials, including newsletters, social media content, press releases, and promotional campaigns. Collaborate with university marketing and communications teams to ensure consistent branding and messaging across all channels. Design and update digital and print materials showcasing student success, faculty achievements, and university initiatives. Strategic Planning & Reporting Track and evaluate the effectiveness of communication, outreach, and engagement campaigns. Provide updates and reports to university leadership regarding outcomes and progress in community engagement initiatives. Event Coordination Plan, coordinate, and execute high-impact events and other engagement activities that support the university. Assist in implementing community-based initiatives and cooperative partnership events, ensuring seamless logistics, communication flow, and stakeholder participation. Support outreach-focused events—including information sessions and presentations—to enhance visibility, strengthen partnerships, and assist student recruitment efforts. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Four years of related experience in public/community/external relations or event planning. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.​ Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
