Bush Combat Development Complex (BCDC), part of the Texas A&M University System (TAMUS), invites applications for a full-time Test System Engineer. The BCDC - located on the 2.000-acre RELLIS Campus in Bryan, TX• is an ecosystem for agile technology development and service-member-inspired research. The BCDC is the result of a partnership between the U.S. Army Futures Command and The Texas A&M University System and the State of Texas. Salary: $3,657.34 - $4,166.67 per month commensurate with experience. Job Description Summary: The Test System Engineer applies advanced scientific and engineering expertise to support diverse assignments at the George H.W. Bush Combat Development Complex (BCDC). Reporting to the BCDC Networks, Analytics & Data Operations (NAOO} lead, this role is responsible for:  Implementing comprehensive data acquisition, curation, analysis, and range control solutions for BCDC research, experimentation, and test events; Managing projects related to test systems acquisition and modernization; Providing direct support to research and test teams throughout event planning, execution, and reporting. The engineer collaborates with internal Texas A&M University System partners, BCDC research teams, and external organizations-including government, industry, and laboratories-to develop and integrate data and range instrumentation, network environments, and physical test ranges. The role also advises on data acquisition, visualization, federated architectures, and supports the full spectrum of BCDC missions, primarily within the Innovation Proving Grounds (IPG) and, as needed, Ballistics, Aero-Optics and Materials (BAM). Responsibilities: - Configure, integrate, and maintain data acquisition and range control systems, including custom DAS, COTS instrumentation, and modeling tools. - Provide technical expertise to cross-functional teams and external partners. - Support data teams with simulation validation, edge case analysis, and visual summarization of test results. - Plan and execute verification and validation (V&V) activities for research and test technologies. - Support IPG range and data systems operations across all event phases; assist BAM operations as required. - Troubleshoot and optimize range network architecture and system reliability. - Mentor student workers and capstone teams. - Develop and maintain data visualization tools for analysis and decision-making. - Organize and prepare post-event datasets for analysis and reporting. - Maintain range instrumentation systems and resolve hardware/software issues. - Document data ecosystem workflows, credential management, and instrumentation usage; provide training as needed. - Support range operations in varied environmental conditions. - Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registration, Certifications, and Licenses: - Must be able to gain and maintain a DoD (Department of Defense) security clearance. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. - Proficiency with collaborative platforms (e.g. Microsoft Teams) and productivity software. - Advanced skills in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and audio/video tools. - Excellent business correspondence and documentation abilities. - Ability to manage confidential and time-sensitive matters. - Experience with Python and SQL. - Familiarity with network topologies, wireless architectures, and operating systems (Ubuntu, Linux, Windows, Docker). Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with wireless: mesh radios, 4G/5G. - Familiarity with GIS data. - Experience with shell scripting, C, Ruby, JavaScript, NoSQL. - Experience with Robot Operating Systems (ROS, ROS2). - Experience with web application development.
