Location New York, New York Shift: Day Flex (United States of America) Description: Life-Saving Surgical Pathology: Pathologists' Assistants Make It Possible Per Diem Pathologists' Assistant - Surgical Pathology At NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, our Surgical Pathology Laboratory is one of the busiest in New York. Within our state-of-the-art lab, we maintain a high level of clinical interaction and enable expedited specimen processing. In turn, we deliver life-saving results to a growing volume of patients faster than most hospitals in the area. In our state-of the-art gross room you will dissect and examine all types of surgical specimens from small biopsies to large complex specimens. Pathologists’ Assistants assist in cutting and staining frozen sections and Bio Banking. Assess specimen volume and complexity, and triage specimens among cutting room personnel, technicians and residents. Identify and resolve all workflow and quality control issues related to gross and accession room activities by utilizing Advance Bar & Tracking Systems (AB&T) as well as cutting edge technology such as MModal, our voice recognition system. This position is a per-diem role with varying hours. Schedule will be made on a monthly basis based on the needs of the department and employee availability. Location is our Weill Cornell Medical Center on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Required Criteria One to three years experience  Bachelor’s degree ASCP Certification NYS Pathologists’ Assistant licensure or Clinical Laboratory Technologist license, or Histotech License from the New York State Education Department NEW HIRES PENDING NYS LICENSURE: Must obtain the License within 6 months of hire #AP Join a healthcare system where employee engagement is at an all-time high.
