As the Academic Advisor IV, you will play a key role in driving student success and strengthening advising excellence. You will focus on empowering students that are navigating high‑impact academic challenges to achieve their academic and career goals. In this role you will engage in frequent, complex conversations with students to clarify academic policies, guide decision‑making, and support retention. This role also manages substantial administrative responsibilities to include approving course adjustments, reviewing readmission applications, and evaluating the effectiveness of advising policies and programs. You will have the opportunity to use data driven tools to track student progress, build advising campaigns, and help determine the impact of academic interventions. The selected candidate will be expected to work on-site at our College Station campus.     Salary: $59,895.00 Opportunities to Contribute:   Advise students on academic goals, course selection, degree planning, and major/minor exploration, while guiding them through key academic processes. Monitor student progress, review academic records, and provide support or referrals for students needing additional guidance or intervention. Connect students with academic, professional, and wellness resources and engage them through proactive in‑person and digital outreach. Lead or assist with advising and student‑success events, such as New Student Conferences, first‑semester advising, and prospective‑student outreach. Provide reports, data analysis, and documentation related to advising initiatives and student populations. Mentor academic advisors, collaborate on retention initiatives, and contribute to training and professional‑development activities. Deliver training for faculty and staff on advising tools, strategies, campus resources, and policy updates. Refer students to appropriate mental‑health resources when necessary. Complete required training, including shadowing, departmental and university workshops, and advisor meetings. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree Six years of academic advising experience within higher education A well-qualified candidate may also possess: Advanced degree or certification relevant to academic advising. Knowledge of Texas A&M University’s history, mission, values, and institutional culture. Understanding of the role and history of academic advising in higher education and at Texas A&M University. Familiarity with Texas A&M University policies, procedures, rules, and regulations related to academic advising. Knowledge of academic advising theories, models, strategies, and ethical and legal standards, including privacy and confidentiality. Understanding of student learning and success outcomes and the needs of student populations. Familiarity with curriculum structures, degree requirements, and campus partnerships that support student success. Ability to assess student needs, identify high‑risk indicators, and make appropriate referrals to mental‑health and campus resources. Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across campus. Proficiency with advising technologies, information systems, and data analysis to evaluate advising effectiveness. Experience designing and delivering training and professional‑development programs, including creating engaging instructional content. Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and support advisors, and familiarity with supervisory and project‑management practices. Skill in guiding students through problem‑solving, decision‑making, and goal setting to promote academic progress.
