For more information please visit us at https://msc.tamu.edu/ .   What We Want The Student Development Specialist II position in the Memorial Student Center Programs Office (MSC Programs) advises up to two student programming committees. This position will facilitate professional development and leadership skill-building through the production of student-led programs. The successful candidate will advise undergraduate students and will have experience in planning, facilitating, or supervising campus programs such as conferences, lecture events, service opportunities, and more.  They will also uphold university policies, student organization rules, and department protocols, as well as support other aspects of MSC Programs and the larger Division of Student Affairs.   What you need to know Salary: $51,750.00 Annual Cover Letter/Resume’: A cover letter and resume’ are strongly recommended. You may upload these documents on the application under CV/Resume. Position Details: Occasional work beyond regular business hours for meetings concerning students and with student groups. Responsibilities Student Development/Engagement: Contributes to student success by sharing information, guidance, and expertise, that supports students’ personal and professional development and refers them to campus resources when needed. Identifies and evaluates student learning outcomes for student leaders. Utilizes Student Affairs documentation tools, program scheduling, and assessment resources to support programmatic goals for committee and measure student involvement. Communicates with appropriate staff and university entities to report and/or address student concerns and issues. Department Participation: Actively engages in department-wide activities such as retreats, staff meetings, Division of Student Affairs programs, and professional development opportunities. Builds and maintains relationships with campus stakeholders and constituencies that support the efforts and priorities of the department and/or advised organizations. Enforces University, Student, and Department rules and policies. Advisory & Support: Educates and supports student leaders in their fulfillment of organizational goal-setting, decision-making, accountability, annual student engagement, and member involvement goals.  Prepares students to facilitate events, developing program structure, risk management, advertising and publicity, contract negotiation and execution, and fundraising. Monitors and approves financial transactions and related documentation of advised organizations, in accordance with department and/or Student Organization Finance Center rules and timelines. Administrative/Liaison: Serves on department, division, or university committees and task forces as requested or assigned.  Creates and submits reports and completes administrative processes, as determined by the department or division. Serves as a mandatory reporter and Campus Security Authority, and fulfills required reporting duties as determined by university, state, and/or federal requirements.  Qualifications Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. One year of experience in student affairs work or related specialty. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience planning and organizing conferences, or other speaker events, for university student populations. Demonstrated experience advising, or supervising, freshmen, or first year experience, populations.
