For more information, please visit https://www.tamiu.edu/ This is a tenured faculty (12-month) position with a 1-1-1 course load. Primary duties will include modeling, supporting, and rewarding faculty excellence in teaching and research; assessing, revising, and innovating curricula; coordinating course scheduling; overseeing the recruitment and hiring of new faculty; credentialing and evaluating faculty; managing the budget; and developing partnerships across the university and community. Duties also include providing support to students, supporting recruitment and retention initiatives, and representing the department in college and university-level strategic planning. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. The Department of Psychology & Communication has 12 full-time Psychology faculty and 9 full-time Communication faculty. It has the following degree programs: BA Psychology, BA Communication, MA Communication, MS Psychology, and MA Counseling Psychology. Required Qualifications The successful candidate must hold a doctorate in psychology, communication, or a closely related discipline. Candidates must have a record of research and publications, teaching experience commensurate to rank, at least 5 years of full-time faculty experience, and experience in faculty management. We strongly encourage candidates with a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications as well as experience in writing, securing, and managing external grants (infrastructure, instrument, programmatic, or research). We strongly encourage applicants with administrative and supervisory experience as a program coordinator, program director, or division/department chair. Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.
