Restaurant Brands International is seeking a seasoned Payroll Manager to lead and manage all aspects of Canadian payroll operations. This role carries full accountability for the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll across all provinces, ensuring adherence to federal and provincial legislation. The successful candidate will bring comprehensive expertise in Canadian payroll regulations, demonstrated hands on experience operating payroll and a strong command of internal controls and risk management. This individual will serve as a trusted subject matter expert, driving operational excellence while safeguarding compliance and audit readiness in a complex, multi-entity environment. RBI follows a 5 day, in-office work schedule to support collaboration. Candidates should be comfortable working onsite 5 days per week out of our office in Toronto, ON. Key Responsibilities Oversee end to end payroll processing for all Canadian employees across multiple provinces Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations including income tax, CPP, EI, QPP, QPIP, EHT, WSIB, and other statutory requirements Manage payroll operations within Workday including system configuration support, payroll audits, reporting, and enhancements Manage all aspects of maternity and parental leave administration including eligibility review, coordination of leave dates, system updates, ROE processing, and reconciliation of EI payments. Lead end of year activities including preparation and filing of T4, T4A, RL1, and all required reconciliations Oversee Record of Employment processing and ensure compliance with Service Canada guidelines Partner with Finance on payroll related accruals, account reconciliations, and audit support Maintain strong internal controls and documented procedures to support audit and compliance standards Respond to government inquiries and manage payroll audits as required Collaborate with PBPs and Comp team on compensation changes, benefit, equity taxation matters Manage payroll tax reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis and resolve discrepancies proactively Serve as the primary point of contact for CRA payroll audits, reviews, and inquiries Lead and manage WSIB including annual reconciliations, filings and rate assessments Support, file and pay for provincial health tax audits and other regulatory examinations as required Ensure proper taxation of equity compensation including RSUs and bonuses in accordance with Canadian tax rules Monitor legislative changes across all provinces and implement necessary updates to payroll processes and systems Qualifications At least 4 years’ experience managing Canadian payroll across multiple provinces Professional payroll designations such as PCP or CPM preferred Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred CPA designation is considered an asset Comprehensive knowledge of federal and provincial payroll legislation Hands on experience processing payroll in Workday preferred Proven experience managing year end reporting including T4 and RL1 preparation Experience operating within a multi-entity or complex organizational structure preferred High level of accuracy and strong analytical capability Strong communication skills with the ability to engage cross functional partners and senior leadership Base salary range of $110,000 – $120,000 CAD. Base salary for this position may vary based on relevant factors such as experience, education, location, and skills. This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual discretionary bonus plan, subject to the terms and conditions of the incentive program, based on individual and company performance metrics. This position may also be eligible for additional compensation in the form of equity grants pursuant to the Company’s long-term incentive plan.
