The Controls Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, commissioning and support of controls systems for material handling and automation projects, working both on-site and remotely. We offer: Career Development Competitive Compensation and Benefits Pay Transparency Global Opportunities Learn More Here: https://www.dematic.com/en-us/about/careers/what-we-offer/ Tasks and Qualifications: ​ Key Responsibilities Design and deliver the controls aspects of material handling systems for Dematic Enhancement, Modernisation and Upgrade projects, in line with specifications, timelines and budgets. Develop, implement and support hardware and software solutions , including controls design, PLC software and commissioning activities. Provide end-to-end controls solutions , covering electrical design, software design and on-site commissioning. Work effectively on live customer sites , ensuring minimal disruption to operations while respecting project scope and safety standards. Support fault finding, system investigations and controls troubleshooting when required. Perform site supervisory duties on controls projects when necessary. Support the Sales team with controls-related cost estimates, design concepts and spare parts recommendations. Maintain Dematic’s image as a high-quality, professional organisation , adopting an honest, proactive and customer-focused approach. ​ Requirements & Qualifications Education to a minimum of HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Hands-on experience in a similar role within an automation-based industry , ideally in automated warehouse or intralogistics environments. Advanced knowledge of PLCs (Siemens and/or Allen Bradley). Strong understanding of fieldbus systems and I/O equipment (e.g. Profibus, Profinet, ASi, TCP/IP). Advanced understanding of controls-related equipment such as barcode scanners, HMIs and variable frequency drives . Working knowledge of industry standards , including the Machinery Directive and compliance requirements. Experience with CAD tools (AutoCAD, EPLAN) – AutoCAD considered a nice to have . Confident user of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook). Travel & Availability Up to 75% travel within Italy is required, depending on project needs. On-call availability may be required when necessary, with a maximum of one week per month .
