Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid on MID SHIFT to NIGHT SHIFT. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business. The Role Serve as a Strategic Business Partner, bringing timely and insightful decisions to all strategic and tactical matters related to intercompany accounting, audit/SOX compliance, and financial analyses. Leverage financial systems and automation tools that increase clarity, improve efficiency, shorten decision cycle times, and reinforce financial integrity and accountability. What You'll Do Expertise Applies foundational knowledge of intercompany accounting principles, US GAAP, and SOX/internal control requirements, consistent with Level 5 expectations for theoretical and procedural understanding. Executes monthly and annual close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations, with accuracy and timeliness. Maintains documentation and supports audit processes with detailed analysis and reporting, demonstrating accountability and attention to compliance. Demonstrates proficiency in financial systems such as  SAP   (preferred) , aligning with GM’s emphasis on process execution and system familiarity. Leverages  automation tools such as Power BI, KNIME, Python, and Power Query   (preferred)  to streamline reporting, reconciliation, and data analysis—representing an  exceptional capability  that enhances efficiency and scalability beyond baseline expectations. Provides insights on aged intercompany accounts receivable and payable items and exceptions, contributing to operational clarity and risk mitigation. Maintains awareness of intercompany developments and their impact on operations, showing initiative in staying informed and responsive. Participates in special projects (e.g.,  LEAN/Six Sigma ,  BCP/BIA )  (preferred) , reflecting a proactive approach to continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration. Scope and Impact Delivers accurate and timely financial data that supports decision-making within the intercompany domain. Ensures compliance with GM policies and external regulations. Contributes to process improvements that enhance accounting quality and operational efficiency. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Business Units, Global Finance Teams, Vendors). Impact is primarily within the immediate work area but may extend across the finance function. Drives automation initiatives that improve scalability and sustainability of intercompany processes. Complexity Independently resolves routine accounting issues using established procedures. Exercises judgment in identifying discrepancies and proposing corrective actions. Applies problem-solving techniques to drive solutions and improve processes. Communicates clearly and professionally across teams and levels. Adapts to changing priorities and demonstrates resilience in addressing setbacks. Demonstrates accountability and ownership of tasks and outcomes. Uses automation tools to reduce manual effort and enhance data integrity. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) A bachelor’s degree in accounting or its equivalent In-depth experience (3–4 years) in accounting, with strong exposure to controllership processes across Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet areas. Experience in a shared service or multinational environment is a plus. Willingness to work hybrid, mid-shift (3:00 PM to 12:00 MN), and night shift during peak season. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience in intercompany processes and reporting.
