Job Description The Team: Our Engine & Transmission Controls (ETC) team within GM’s Vehicle Software and Electronics Engineering organization is responsible for developing, deploying, and releasing control software and calibrations that control our industry leading propulsion systems. Be it internal combustion engines, hybridized drive units or transmissions, the exciting challenge of inventing new methods to control the world’s best propulsion systems is never ending. The Role: We currently have an opportunity to be an Engineering Group Manager leading a team of engineers responsible to execute a specific area of embedded Transmission system calibration and validation. This team works cross functionally with product, systems, and program teams to ensure all pieces come together to successfully release quality products on time to support our revenue generating truck, car and SUV portfolio and paving the way for our future. Embrace agile principles and practices, identifying and eliminating impediments, and facilitating flow. Mentor, coach, and develop employees and their careers. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications): Bachelor of Science in Engineering to include Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Mathematics. 7+ years of engineering experience related to embedded control systems, calibration, related hardware, and/or safety critical system development. Demonstrated results in successful project execution. Excellent multi-functional communication and leadership skills - able to get multiple teams moving in the same direction. Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity while driving timely decision making. What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications): Masters degree in Engineering and/or Master of Business Administration. Leadership experience of teams of engineers responsible for calibrating, developing or testing embedded control systems or related hardware. Demonstrated ability to: Achieve results through effective teamwork. Lead numerous projects with different focal areas to successful completion. Lead and measure work through metrics, data, and results. Prior experience with Transmission Control Systems. Working knowledge of embedded controls development tool set – (e.g. IBM Rational Tool Suite, Git ecosystem, MatLab-Simulink, ETAS INCA). “Scaled Agilist” certification in the Scaled Agile Framework®. Company Vehicle : Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies. #LI-DH2
