ERM  is hiring a  Biologist - Desktop Analyst  in Walnut Creek, CA.    This position focuses on working closely in collaboration with a larger team of natural resources specialists to provide environmental review and constraints analysis of biological and waters resources for various construction sites for a utility sector client throughout Northern California. This is a full-time (40 hours per week), limited-term position with a duration of 1 year and the possibility of renewal. RESPONSIBILITIES: Utilize biological and water resource technical and critical thinking skills when conducting desktop reviews for environmental clearance work. Perform desktop-based environmental constraints analysis to determine appropriate levels/types of environmental avoidance and minimization measures needed for environmental compliance. Complete work assignments in accordance with ERM's management system, format and quality standards. Commitment to teamwork and ability to follow established processes and protocols while also confident with identifying process improvements to provide benefit to the client. If working in the field, work locations are often remote and requires bio to work independently. Other special status species surveys and monitoring may be required, based on available skills. Process Data in Microsoft Excel Train and become independently proficient in client’s Work Management Systems. Compliance with ERM’s rigorous safety program. Biologist may also be tasked with conducting desktop constraints analysis using ArcGIS Online. Biologist will work under the supervision of a Senior Scientist. Desktop constraint reviews require an understanding of digitally available resource layers and ability to learn quickly in a high-paced environment. REQUIREMENTS: BA/BS or Master’s degree in a natural science discipline. 2+ years of experience in California habitats, or similar (Northern California experience preferred). Must be able to obtain clearance through client background check to access online system (upon employment). Hybrid work environment with up to 1 day per week at local client office. Strongly proficient in computer software including Excel, MS word, and online data management systems. Excellent time management and follow-through skills. Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health & Safety protocols. High level written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports. Ability to multi-task, maintains flexibility, and works independently with minimal supervision on projects with expedited deadlines. Demonstrated attributes to become a strong consultant – team player, eagerness to learn and grow, self-starter who takes initiative, versatile, and service-oriented mentality. Working knowledge of sub-meter accuracy GPS technologies and map interpretation skills (e.g., NWI, USGS, aerial photography). Must have a strong attention to detail in documentation of work. Must have strong organizational and communication skills. Demonstrated independent and effective problem solving and decision making skills. Possess a valid driver’s license. Pay Transparency:   For the Biologist- Desktop Analyst position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $74,000 – $96,901, $35.57/hr – $46.58/hr   USD , limited-term, non-exempt. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above.  This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/Flexforce employees are NOT bonus eligible).     We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life & disability insurance to   benefits eligible * employees.     *Benefits Eligibility is limited to Regular employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week.  Fixed-Term employees (including Flexforce) who are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours a week or more are eligible for a   limited   benefits package.  Casual employees are NOT benefits eligible.
