We strive for patient-centered care and comfort, and we are committed to serving the community and treating our patients as family.      Akron General’s 5400 Oncology Unit provides care to cancer patients, trains caregivers to give therapy, and provides hands-on learning to achieve chemotherapy competency.       A caregiver in this position works  varying day , evening, and night shifts, including weekends.     A caregiver who excels in this role will:    Perform administrative and clerical duties.    Conduct an in-person greeting and welcome newly admitted and transferred patients to the unit.    Communicate with and facilitate communication between patients, families, other departments and healthcare team members regarding patient care.    Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.    Provide concierge service to assist patients and families with wayfinding and directing them to available resources.    Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.    Troubleshoot equipment.    Respond to patient call lights.    Keep nursing stations clean and organized.    Complete mandatory education and training.     Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:    High S chool D iploma or GED    One year of experience in a customer service-related role       Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:    Microsoft Office experience     Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities. Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision. Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
