The Digestive Disease and Surgical Institute (DDSI) colorectal surgeons performed the world’s first total proctocolectomy and ileoanal pouch procedure with a single-incision and continue to perform the world's highest volume of J-pouch procedures and is the nation's largest referral center for repairing pelvic pouches.  We are also one of the highest volume colorectal cancer surgery centers in the United States and continually meet the highest national quality benchmarks and oncologic outcomes. Additionally, we specialize in locally advanced colon and rectal cancer, as well as cytoreduction and heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for metastatic disease (i.e., carcinomatosis). Our colorectal surgeons perform more than 5,000 surgical procedures annually, including an average of 500 laparoscopic intestinal resections, 260 operations to treat Crohn’s disease, 170 ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) surgeries, and more than 400 colorectal cancer operations.  A caregiver in this position works 8:30am to 5:00pm. A caregiver who excels in this role will:   Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.   Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage and establish care plans.   Administer medications and treatments.   Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.   Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.  Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures and specialized patient care equipment.  Develop, evaluate, adapt and document health education and provide it to patients and families.   Cover other nursing roles within the department.   Travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures, as needed.  Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   Graduate from an accredited school of nursing   Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)   Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross  One year of recent experience as an RN   Will consider LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience in substitution of RN experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area   Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)   Two years of RN experience Physical Requirements: Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range. May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids. Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
