Martin North Hospital is part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit, multispecialty, academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. The Environmental Health and Safety Associate supports a comprehensive environment of care program through close collaboration with the EHS team, Facilities, Infection Prevention, Environmental Services, Clinical Engineering, Regulatory Compliance, nursing departments, laboratory areas, Pharmacy, executive leadership, Accreditation and local Environment of Care committees. This role conducts construction rounds, startup inspections and readiness rounds, evaluates construction permits and reviews SERS and blotter reports while addressing fire safety, hazardous materials and indoor air quality concerns. Responsibilities include completing and documenting inspections, managing hazardous and regulated waste processes, supporting fire drills and annual fire marshal walkthroughs, reviewing industrial hygiene reports, investigating accident reports, addressing root causes and assisting with the closure of OSHA and other regulatory agency findings to ensure ongoing compliance and safety readiness. A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm with no holidays. Weekend requirements will only occur when needed. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Collect and analyze data to identify adverse trends and high loss potential incidents. Conduct site investigations, participate in root cause analyses and corrective action identification, and prepare reports summarizing findings and recommendations. Conduct classroom and one-on-one or small group training of various EHS topics. Perform audits of EHS programs and practices. Minimum requirements for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a science, engineering, or safety field; OR, other Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience in an environmental health and safety field or applicable healthcare area Valid State driver’s license is required Must have own transportation to/from remote job sites Minimum 1 year of experience in an environmental health and safety field or applicable healthcare area if Bachelor's degree is not science, engineering, or safety-related Why You'll Love Working with Us: 403(b) Savings & Investment Plan Investment Pension Plan (IPP)  Tuition Reimbursement Paid Time Off (PTO)  Employee Discounts Dental and Vision Plans  Life Insurance and Disability Physical Requirements: Typical demands require full body motion including ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
