You will do so much more than counting prescriptions and ringing out patients, you will make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, their families and your fellow caregivers.  A caregiver in this position works rotating variable shifts starting from 6:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.   including weekends and holidays. A caregiver who excels in this role will:   Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.   Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.  Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.   Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.  Document regulatory requirements, including temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.   Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.   Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.  Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:    High School Diploma/GED   Must meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application: Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR the National HealthCareer Association (NHA) AND  it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee.  If certified but current status with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) is Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee it is required to update registration status to a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the OBOP within six months of hire. Please note:  A status as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with OBOP does not qualify for this role.  However, please visit the apprenticeship program to express interest:                          https://talentcommunity.clevelandclinic.org/campaign/apprentiship-programs/   Understanding of algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds     Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:     Six months of hospital experience    Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program Physical Requirements: Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.
