Here, you will work alongside a dedicated team of caregivers, receive endless support and appreciation, and build a rewarding career.  Hillcrest Hospital’s Pediatric Short Stay Unit is a dedicated 10-bed facility designed to provide short-term medical care and observation for children requiring hospital-level treatment for less than 24 to 48 hours. The unit is ideal for managing acute illnesses, post-operative recovery, diagnostic observation, and treatment requiring brief hospitalization. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care by interacting directly with patients, families, and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed. This position requires a caregiver who is empathetic, understanding and nurturing to ensure quality patient care and effective life-saving treatment. This role also provides the opportunity to float to the Pediatric Emergency Department. How You’ll Benefit  Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources.  A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts. With 2 holidays per year. You must work 48 hours within a six-week period. A caregiver who excels in this role will:   Provide direct nursing care.  Implement and monitor patient care plans.   Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.   Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.   Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.   Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.  Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing    Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)   Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months of beginning work in the Emergency Department. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within one year of hire External candidates: two years of recent related nursing experience   Internal candidates with less than two years of experience, but are post-orientation/90-day probationary period, may be considered with CNO level review and approval  Licensed military RN experience will be considered   Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) ICU or critical care experience Pediatric Emergency Department experience Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
