Job Description: Position Purpose summary:   The Community and Family Services Coordinator will provide support and assistance to the Community and Family Services in various programs related to community and client support in accordance with Salvation Army mission, values, and standards. Accountabilities: General Ensure the ministry objectives are consistently accomplished and that a spiritual focus is applied to all program initiatives.  Ensure that all duties are completed in accordance with the principles, standards, policies, and procedures of The Salvation Army.  Assist the Director of Community and Family Services with ongoing strategic planning to ensure programming reflects client need as these may evolve in our changing socioeconomic climate. Work with the Director of Community and Family Services to ensure that programs (including program reviews, inspections, and audits) meet contractual, legal, and internal requirements. Conduct client intake, assessing their needs and determining how we can best assist them; provide budgeting guidance to clients as required. Oversee food bank operations – ordering and/or receipt of food donations, recording, general cleanliness, organization. Network with Salvation Army, government, and community social services providers to coordinate resources for the benefit of clients and program. Serve as a resource person to the Director of Community and Family Services in matters of community relations and media related to the Community and Family Services. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures as it relates to external funders. Take an active role in the Christmas Assistance program, including completing applications, qualifying clients, entering data. Volunteers Recruit, orientate, support, assist, and train CFS program volunteers ensuring that all divisional standards are followed.  Oversee day-to-day volunteer scheduling, coordination, and support to ensure adequate staffing for operations and events. Demonstrate work methods, provide supervision and logistical guidance, and ensure that they work together to achieve the purpose of the organization and enhance the ministries of The Salvation Army.  Monitor the performance of all volunteers to ensure high quality services are provided to our clients and other departments. Develop goals and objectives for the volunteer program; implement and review of policies and procedures relating to the volunteer program. Identify training requirements, make recommendations, and develop strategies and recommendations for volunteer development.   Administration Develop goals and objectives for the volunteer program; implement and review of policies and procedures relating to the volunteer program. Create and assist in presentations promoting volunteer opportunities to corporations, schools and the public as required. Ensure divisional standard followed for all volunteers. Identify training requirements, make recommendations, and develop strategies and recommendations for volunteer development.   Maintain accurate records of client information on The Salvation Army’s computer system while maintaining confidentiality and providing statistical reports. Maintain accurate written records, logs of activities, including activity reports and statistical information. May prepare and submit grant/funding applications; complete timely, accurate reports as required.  Receive, record, secure monetary and non-monetary donations; ensure information is forwarded to the business manager or Corps Officer for the issuing of donation receipts for income tax purposes. Provide input in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for Community and Family Services programs. Health and Safety Monitor safety practices in compliance with health and safety standards, and prepare, submit, and act on incident reports; provide calming intervention as required ensuring the safety of everyone. May perform workplace inspections as required. Ensure the Community and Family Services Department is cleaned regularly according to acceptable health standards and that physical property is maintained, arranging for repairs, as necessary. Report any safety hazards, maintenance problems, equipment, or supply needs to the Corps Officer and/or health and safety representative. Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Perform other related duties as required. WORKING CONDITIONS: This is a regular full-time position based on 37.5 hours per week. Schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities – some weekend and evening work may be required; flexibility is required as it relates to hours of work.  The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule. Ability to repeatedly lift 40 pounds. Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions. This job requires reaching, bending, and stooping frequently, working in a standing position for periods of time. Dealing with difficult people and verbal abuse.  Travel is required (10%) for this position. Normal hours of work:  8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will include a ½ hour unpaid meal break. Flexibility in scheduling will be required, as per operational needs. Education, Qualifications and Certifications: Completed an Undergraduate University Degree, preferably in Human (Social) Services field or equivalent. Ability and willingness to provide a valid Safe Food Handlers Certification. Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, is required. Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered. Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements: Minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience, including, experience in a specialized social services program; inclusive of supervisory experience. Supervisory skills and the ability to lead, coach and motivate. Experience dealing with office equipment and tools. Proficient in working in a computerized environment must have strong skills using Microsoft Office Suite.  Knowledge of community-based resources and experience networking with government and social service agencies. Skills and Capabilities: A high level of integrity, good judgment, and ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality. Ability to work independently and participate as an active and responsible team member in a cooperative team environment. Represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to complete assignments and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills. Lead by example, by demonstrating a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening. Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $42,577.53 to $53,221.91 with a maximum of $63,866.29. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
