Time in the role will immerse the candidate in our Risk Management Framework, strengthen exposure and awareness of Bank Capital structures, the Three Lines of Defense, and develop relationships with National leaders in Commercial / Corporate Banking and Risk, with a view to support skills for career development within Commercial Banking or Head Office.  In your role as Director, Real Estate Credit Risk Management you will manage a major segment of risk rated credits.  By exercising good credit judgment, you will ensure that effective credit policies and strategies are in place and are adhered to in order to sustain portfolio quality and support effective portfolio growth.  This position covers the adjudication of credit that originates from the commercial and corporate real estate market.  The candidate should be comfortable working in a hybrid environment, and will invest in relationships with visits to frontline office locations.  At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role.   You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.   How you’ll succeed   Project Leadership -   You will represent or lead as required in projects/initiatives that have a National scope. You will interface our Business Partners, aligning objectives, activities and resources, and support the growth of credit capability and relationship trust with Frontline Bankers.  Transactional Adjudication Expertise  – You will ensure sound credit judgment is applied to credit requests, shaping credit solutions to align with our Risk Appetite.  You will support evolution of and effective execution of approved risk rating methodologies, develop and maintain industry expertise within your team over the Canadian commercial and corporate real estate market, and ensure credit applications and credit policies and processes are effectively managed, documented and adhered to.  Portfolio Management –  Measure, monitor and control credit risks, actively engaging to identify and assess challenges in accounts, asset classes, and shape action plans to effectively minimize capital and resource costs and loan losses.  You will manage and review reporting processes to ensure that credit irregularities are identified and resolved on a timely basis and ensure performance of portfolio for trends; non-performing and problem accounts; assessing revenue and loss experience ratios; identification of under-performing units.   Who you are   You can demonstrate experience in  and have expert knowledge of the Canadian commercial / corporate real estate market and credit practices in order to assess different customer requirements, and effectively sort and prioritize relevant risk factors.  You are calm under pressure,  able to balance priorities in a complex decision environment  You are a problem solver,  drawing support from experience and networks, to forward business and team objectives.  Your influence makes an impact.  You know that relationships and networks are essential to success.
