Summary Directs the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Specific focus on ensuring manufacturing processes remain in control to reduce cost of product failure. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Will be expected to spend 50% of time in direct labor activities with team members (building product, loading and operating test equipment, etc.). Manages budget and makes recommendation expenditures and direct/indirect labor. Develops schedules based on manpower requirements for assigned areas. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Job Description OTHER SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS OR DUTIES Performs all required management responsibilities including but not limited to: implementing the company's policies, programs, and guidelines; ensuring employee productivity and growth; managing resources; knowing Varex’s business; and maintaining functional, technical, and external market awareness necessary for managing immediate organization.  Assists manager in development of long range plans as required.  Scope of role may include interaction with other sites and operations.  Performs a continuing review of safety considerations to minimize liability risk to company.  Responsible for quality measure including scrap, warranty, DOA and avoidable errors. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND CERTIFICATIONS Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge Ability, competence, and confidence to lead people. Effective interpersonal skills. Understanding of operations finance, particular to direct and indirect labor and associated expenses Knowledge with Lean Mfg, DFT, JIT or similar principles Other Desired Skills and Knowledge Knowledge with fair labor practices Required Certifications and Training Obtains and completes LMS training plan specific to assigned responsibility. Experience Level with Business Tools Familiarity and working abilities with:  Project Planning, charting and presentations Proficient in utilizing business tools such as:  E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired. Supervision Provides direct supervision to professional individual contributors and/or highly skilled non-exempt employees.  Acts as advisor to unit and may become actively involved to meet schedules and resolve problems. Typical Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree or equivalent 5 years of related experience.  One year of management experience or supervisory equivalent ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation. Medium work that will frequently require the employee to lift/move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift more than 75 lbs. to greater than 100 lbs. Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving heavy equipment and/or supplies frequently. Reaching above and below the shoulder frequently. Above-average agility and dexterity with the ability to hold, grasp and manipulate small parts and use hand and power tools constantly. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and handle physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, stretching, reaching, repetitive motion, or similar activities. Work environments include exposure to chemicals, electrical current, proximity to moving mechanical parts, repetitive hand motion, open flame, working from heights, cold environment, hot environment, uneven surface, fumes.
