Identifies areas for improvement / enhancement on existing system/s and on new ones being developed Determines, analyzes, and transforms business requirements to produce design specifications at the system and programming levels Conducts capacity planning and performance tuning on supported applications as required Ability to perform more complex systems designs Ability to begin to lead small teams of developers Develops or maintains; tests, implements and documents programs according to program specifications and Sun Life standards Identifies all possible test scenarios and prepares tests for the systems under development Executes test plan during development and system testing and provides user acceptance testing or other testing as required to ensure that system processing reflects user requirements / designs Provides post-implementation and production support for systems including analysis of production problems Performs implementation activities such as program promotions, installation of the system, training and tutorial for end users Performs development/update of the Users Manual, Systems Manual and Operations Manual Provides updates and status reports to the project manager during the course of a development and related support activities Specialized Knowledge/Skills   Describe the level of technical/professional knowledge and key skills needed to successfully perform the work of the job.  Core Professional / Technical Competencies Required Abilities Able to apply programming skills in at least one of the supported Sun Life platforms (Expert) Able to apply systems analysis and design skills (Competent) Able to apply development methodology used in Sun Life (Competent) Able to apply systems projects management skills (Developing) Able to apply business analysis skills (Developing) Able to apply quality assurance skills (Competent) Knowledge Systems Development Life Cycles, its stages, major tasks and deliverables (Developing) Insurance terminology and principles, SLF products, policies and procedures (Developing) Other  Common Technical Skills Unit Testing (Expert) Functional System Testing (Competent) Integration Testing (Competent) Regression Testing (Developing) Change Management Tool (Expert) Knowlege in Java is required Core Soft/Transferable Competencies Required Decisiveness (Competent) Communication (Competent) Customer Service Orientation (Competent) Tolerance for Stress (Competent) Fast Cycle (Specialist) Coaching and People Development (Developing) Delegating Responsibility/Holding People Accountable (Developing) Managing Courageously (Developing) Work Standards/Quality Orientation (Competent) Education and Experience   Indicate the minimum education and experience required to perform the work.
