At Leonardo, we’re expanding our GCAP development team and are looking for talented Senior High‑Speed Digital Electronics Engineers to join us in Edinburgh or Newcastle. As part of a multi‑disciplined delivery team, you’ll work across the full engineering lifecycle, from capturing early requirements to delivering the final system into the hands of our customers. What you’ll bring: Designing high speed digital Printed Circuit Boards that utilise the latest FPGA, microprocessor and high-speed interconnect technologies Supporting throughout the full hardware lifecycle from requirements analysis; through design, and unit test; to integrating hardware with the target system; and lastly to acceptance test and delivery to customer Fully documenting and recording your work products; keeping them under configuration management, and providing plans and progress reports Working within a multi-disciplined team of engineers to solve real integration problems on complex systems What we need from you: Qualifications: first or second degree (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, EngD) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (preferable) or related science (e.g. Physics) Schematic capture experience Design of high-speed serial communication links and knowledge of associated protocols and architectures Hands on experience of hardware, firmware & software integration of microprocessor-based designs onto hardware platforms is essential Ability to communicate effectively across different disciplines both verbally and in written form Ability to work on own or as part of a team to resolve technical issues Security Clearance This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
