Job Summary: This position is responsible for coordinating the sampling, analyzing, and reporting of laboratory data. Maintain quality assurance, good laboratory practices, USDA PEPRL status, and other programs to support the SQF certification at the processing facility(s). Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinates outside lab testing and customer samples, as necessary Maintains cleanliness of lab: clean, sweep and other housekeeping requirements Maintains quality assurance laboratory programs and good laboratory practices Becomes proficient and perform laboratory test methods Maintains test result databases Tracks supply inventory Assists with employee training Follows preventative maintenance schedule for calibration and cleaning of lab equipment and environment Collects data, analyzes, compiles, distributes and presents reports as needed Reports and takes necessary action to prevent/control food safety and food quality risks Follows, verifies, and takes appropriate actions to ensure the integrity & sustained certification of the SQF System Generates Certificates of Analysis for customers Creates and reviews procedures for laboratory Performs shelf life studies on finished product Completes training and provides support, as necessary, for other Quality positions within the organization Creates PO requests for laboratory supplies and services Backup: A trained designee will be appointed by management to cover for absences or vacancies; refer to Rembrandt Foods site-specific facility back-up matrix on file. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Required: Attention to detail Ability to read, understand, and effectively communicate verbally and in writing Public relations skills and phone etiquette Independent self-starter Strong team work skills Ability to problem solve: define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions Public relation skills and phone etiquette Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Math Skills: logical/analytical, percentages, fractions, algebra Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English Preferred: Associates degree or 2+ years’ experience in quality environment, or equivalent Computer Skills: , PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Equipment: Company issued PPE Laboratory Equipment for analytical, microbiological, and functionality testing Universal Expectations: Follows all Safety, Bio-Security, Environmental, and Animal Welfare Procedures Ensures compliance with and follows all OSHA and REI safety regulations and procedures Ensures that all care is provided with respect to customer, client and co-workers’ rights Ensures a safe and clean work environment Maintains confidentiality Adheres to work schedules in completing and performing assigned tasks Takes appropriate action to ensure the integrity and sustained certification of the SQF system. Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring. Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality Plan and any other programs that support the SQF system and other 3rd party audits Performs other tasks as assigned
