Job Summary Leads the enterprise data management capability and the supporting solutions across the organisation, ensuring both the operating model (standards, processes, roles and measures) and the enabling tools are fit-for-purpose, adopted and delivering value. The roles is required to ensure that consistent metadata management and data quality management practices are implemented at scale, support compliance, and enable a thriving data management community. Job Description The following responsibilities must be fulfilled: Capability Ownership (Operating Model & Standards) Define, maintain and optimise a fit-for-purpose data management operating model, including processes, procedures, KPIs and responsibilities across the organisation Define and evolve enterprise data management standards, implementation guides and templates for metadata management and data quality management Solution Ownership (Tools, Roadmap & Change) Own the solution roadmap for enterprise data management tools and platforms (e.g. Ataccama), including backlog prioritisation, change governance and release management Ensure tooling configuration and ways of working support the operating model, including onboarding, support and integration patterns where applicable Metadata Management Capability Drive adoption of the Enterprise Business Glossary, metadata repositories and lineage/impact analysis practices to enable consistent understanding and effective use of data Data Quality Management Capability Define and govern enterprise data quality practices, including metrics, control expectations, issue management and remediation patterns, to enable trusted, fit-for-purpose data Enablement, Support & Community Provide a support service to the organisation to help users understand the data management and governance disciplines, learn and apply the tools and processes and derive value from these capabilities Define and deliver training material, guides and communication to help accelerate adoption and time to value for data management tools and practices Facilitate workshops, engagements and community of practice sessions to motivate, enable and align data management and governance efforts across the organisation Governance, Compliance & Stakeholder Collaboration Contribute to the data governance framework and process definition, as well as support the relevant forums with detailed input on data management and governance issues, including proposed resolution and status updates Support compliance with regulatory and internal requirements related to data (e.g. BCBS 239 / RDARR, POPIA, GDPR) through effective controls, evidence and reporting Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to analyse issues and define resolution actions that may go across multiple business areas Education and Experience Required Minimum 5 years’ experience defining or practicing enterprise data management and/or governance BSc Information Technology, or Risk Management or equivalent Diploma Proven experience in implementing metadata components (business glossaries, metadata repositories and/or data lineage/impact analysis solutions) Experience with data quality tools and frameworks Experience with data management tools (specifically Metadata and DQ) such as Ataccama, Collibra, Informatica EDC or similar advantageous Exposure to data visualisation tools such as QlikView or Power BI advantageous Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to data (e.g., BCBS 239, POPIA, GDPR) advantageous Knowledge & Skills: Stakeholder management and change management fundamentals Strong understanding of data management principles, including data quality, metadata, reference data, master data and data governance Ability to analyse, document and communicate complex data concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders Ability to define and implement standards, frameworks and processes for metadata and data quality management Solution ownership and product management fundamentals (roadmap/backlog management, release/change governance and value realisation) Ability to define and maintain business requirements for data management tooling and translate them into prioritised solution enhancements Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Exposure to data architecture and modelling principles advantageous Education Absa Bank Limited is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer.
