Job Summary As a Data Analyst with the Personal and Private Banking Chief Data and Analytics Office team, you will contribute to the design, development, and ongoing maintenance of the data layer, including its documentation and supporting processes. Job Description In this role, you will analyse data structures originating from mainframe systems, including reviewing copybooks and profiling the underlying data. Based on this analysis, you will produce detailed mapping specifications and propose necessary data transformations. These specifications will serve as input for Data Engineers, who will implement data pipelines and structure the data in a relational format to enable efficient consumption by downstream systems and business users.  Absa is a South African-based financial services group, operating in 10 African countries. Analysing data structures originating from mainframe systems and profiling the underlying data Creating and maintaining detailed mapping documentation between source systems and the target relational data model Defining and recommending data transformations to ensure data quality, consistency, and usability Preparing clear technical specifications for Data Engineers to implement data pipelines Validating implemented mappings and transformations to ensure alignment with specifications Documenting the curated data layer and related processes for downstream consumers Identifying data quality issues, inconsistencies, and risks, and escalating them when necessary Collaborating closely with Data Engineers, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure shared understanding   What We’re Looking For Knowledge of SQL/Python/Spark Basic knowledge of AWS (S3) and HDFS   Skills That Will Help You In The Role Knowledge of financial products or banking-related data Experience in delivering projects in Agile methodology Working Flexibility and Culture  Absa has been offering limited flexibility for its Czech employees for several years now due to the nature of the cross-ocean team structures. It is up to each team to decide whether regular office visits are required, however generally after the first "getting to speed" period, if it's not stated otherwise, employees are not expected to visit offices on an everyday basis, though it is possible if the employee prefers to do so themselves.
