Summary We are seeking a senior Backend Developer to join our cloud development team and work alongside our lead backend Java developer. You will be responsible for maintaining and expanding our cloud-based RFID management platform, ensuring scalable and reliable backend services for our global customer base. This role offers the opportunity to learn and contribute to a critical system while helping to reduce single points of failure. Primary Responsibilities Develop and maintain ba ckend services for our multithreaded cloud platform  in Java and Spring framework Collaborate with the Lead Backend Engineer to learn existing system architecture and best practices   Implement new backend features and API endpoints as required   Optimize database queries and improve system performance   Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues in production environments   Participate in system design discussions and architecture decisions   Create and maintain technical documentation for backend systems   Support integration with RFID hardware and third-party services Your Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field   5+ years of proven Java applications development Strong proficiency in Java backend programming  (Spring framework) Experience with relational databases (ideally with PostgreSQL) and query optimization   Strong knowledge of RESTful API design and development   Experienced in multithreaded backend development Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization   Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems   Experience with version control systems (Git) and agile development practices   Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively   Fluent in English We prefer (Nice to have) Knowledge of RFID technology or IoT systems is a plus   Oracle Java certification is a big plus Linux experience is a plus Spanish is a big advantage Our Profile Company that designs and manufactures worldwide RFID equipment for the retail sector Flexible working hours 23 days off + 2 days extra 1-2 days per week working from home possibility (30% teleworking) Young and dynamic work environment New 4000sqm corporate building next to Westfield La Maquinista Specialty coffee, tea and table tennis Support for online training programs Ability to grow in a fast-paced international company #LI-JM1 #LI-Hybrid Novanta is proud to be an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action workplace.
